Linksys PAP2 Installation Guide

1. Setup and plug in the device to the power and your router as shown in the quick-start guide enclosed with the device.

2. Plug in your telephone handset into the port labelled “Phone 1”.

3. Pickup the handset of the telephone once the power LED on the device is lit solid.

4. On the telephone keypad, dial ‘****’. You will hear the words “Configuration Menu…”.

5. Now, on the phone handset, dial ‘110’ then press the ‘#’ key.

6. Listen carefully and write down exactly the numbers that the device reads to you. The device will read out 4 numbers, separated by 3 “dots”, this is the IP address of the PAP2 as assigned by your router.

7. Now on your computer, open up your web browser (For example, Internet Explorer).

8. In the address bar of your browser, type in the IP address you wrote down from step 6 and press the enter key on your keyboard. This will bring up the PAP2 configuration interface.

9. The first page you are presented with is the info page, from this page write down the numbers next to where it says: Current IP, Current Netmask, Current Gateway and Primary DNS.

10. Now click the “System” link. Firstly, change the DHCP setting to no as shown and then enter the IP Address, NetMask, Gateway and Primary DNS that you copied down from Step 9 into their corresponding fields. Now, click the button labelled: “save settings”. A message will be displayed for a few seconds, then the device will return to the “Info” page.

11. You will now need to configure port forwarding on your router. This step is required to maximise the call quality you have and to avoid configuration issues that may affect your ability to make and receive calls. As there are several hundred different models of router on the market, you will need to either follow the instruction manual given with your router for port forwarding or contact the person or store from where you acquired the device. An excellent online reference is www.portforward.com.

12. Once you are in a position to forward ports, you will need to forward the following ports to the IP address you wrote down from step 9:

a. Port 5060 Protocol UDP.
b. Port Range 10000 to 20000 UDP.

13. Once this is completed you will be able to use the service as you would a normal telephone, but of course, for the fraction of the cost.
